I did that part- the dreaded section O- in June two summers ago. The only
place I had trouble was about a 2 mile section centered on Mushroom Rock.
Huge drifts. Slowed me down to a 13 mi. day, and I was exhausted. I have no
idea whether that was a typical year. The rest of that section was
completely snowless.

Trying to get a section hike w/o snow. You Northern California people
convinced me to avoid Mt Scott to Ashland. There is a shorter section
between Burney and Castle Crags looking at the second week of June. Any
thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
