I put stuff you couldn't find in most towns or small
stuff such as:

trial size toothpaste, shaving cream
vitamins, asprin, ibrupropen, etc.
extra socks
maps, guidebooks
extra clothing
ziplocks, garbage bags, etc.
cold weather clothing (for northern WA)
film, extra batteries, etc.
ice axe (for Sierras)

I'd mail my bounce box ahead every 2-5 weeks.
