[ft-l] USFS announces Fee-Free Day

Hello All,

Here is a chance to enjoy developed recreation areas in the national
forests for a day for free. The USDA Forest Service will have a Recreation
Fee-Free Day in celebration of National Public Lands Day on September 20,
2003.

Entrance fees, including recreation fee demo projects, will be waived on
all federal lands for September 20. The day, known as National Public
Lands Day, was established to encourage visitation.

The waiving of use fees for overnight camping, cabin rentals, heritage
expeditions, recreation permits, reservations, and boat launches operated
by the Forest Service will be determined by individual National Forest
Supervisors. Concession operations will continue to be charged unless the
permit holder wishes to participate. No word yet on what the National
Forests in Florida will do, but I am sure more information will be
forthcoming.
