[ft-l] Cross Florida Greenway ALERT

Hi, folks. Just passing this along from Kent Wimmer. I'm adamantly opposed to allowing hunting in the Cross Florida Greenway corridor. If you are too, and can make it to one of these meetings, please show your support.

Cheers, Sandy

Below is a message from Kenneth Smith, Section Leader of the Cross Florida Greenway. He asks that we spread the word that many people are needed to attend the meetings listed below to support safe use of the Greenway. Please pass this information on to Florida Trail members and other interested people within the geographic area of the meetings. If you have questions about this, e-mail Kenneth at barker-smith@att.net

HUNTING ON GREENWAY?, NO WAY
There are to be hearings conducted to consider whether or not to permit HUNTING on the Cross Florida Greenway, the Recreational Corridor in which there are canoeing, biking, equestrian and hiking trails. This corridor is already being used by numerous citizens in what is a wilderness area within an urban setting. There are homes very near the boundaries. It is important that interested persons attend these meetings and help
prevent a terrible miss-use of lands intended for preservation of wilderness, without the impact of motor vehicles and the danger of hunting within a narrow corridor that already has low-impact trails for people to use.

The meetings are as follows:
