Re: [at-l] Re: Year End Survey

1) What were some highlights and lowlights of your
hiking in 1999?

Highlights: Hiking in Rhody with Mags, hiking with the
Extreme Wild Warrior Women of the Wilderness (these
were two different hikes!) Also, helping to found the
Louisiana Hiking Club, and meeting lots of new hiking
friends through that.

Lowlights: Having mono and mono relapses in January,
February, March, June, July, and August, and having to
cancel many hiking trips, plus a vacation to
Yellowstone because of it. Also, having to set up a
tent in a swamp because one of my hiking partners had
an attack of low blood sugar in the middle of a
rainstorm, and we HAD to stop. My tent stakes wouldn't
stay in the ground, and it was cold (February). I
tried to sleep and kept dreaming that I was in a warm
bed, then I'd wake up freezing. That was a rather
unpleasant experience, I must say.

Hike 150 miles of the Ouachita Trail in March/April,
and thru-hike the AT starting in June!!

Highlights: Making so many friends through this list
Lowlight: Early part of the year when everyone was in
a bad mood.

Lots of continued online friendships for the first 6
months ... and hoping to meet some of y'all while I'm
hiking the AT during the last 6 months!
