RE: [at-l] Hiking South of Waynesboro, Va

Some general info.  NPS will close the Blue Ridge Parkway at the drop of a hat (ice, snow flake, whatever) so have alternate routes.  Dripping Spring is only accessible from the Parkway.   
Four shelters in route you mention, south to north (sorry Felix) The Priest, Harpers Creek, Maupin Field and one about 2-3 mile south of Rockfish (name is floating back by my left ear and will not come out).  Section 16, Reeds Gap to Tye River is the best maintained of the sections (ducking and running) with the second and third shelters above, super views at Hanging and Slant Rocks.  
Relocation from just north of the Humpback Rocks parking area to the top of Humpback Rocks is open and longer original, might want to allow extra hour in time estimates.
