     Yup! I wore the NB800 doing the 17 miler on the (rocky) Long Trail 
     hike. They (800/801/802) are basically the same, being a highly 
     cushioned "neutral" running shoe with slightly beefier tread, and a 
     little more leather (protection, man) up the sides. Great hoofing.

I wore New Balance 801 sneakers(newer model is now 802)this year while 
hiking PA and suffered no problems.
