     That's a copy of the excellent brochure I remember picking up in Damascus 
     during Trail Days. Rough story is an average 1.5% grade from Abingdon down 
     to Damascus, and a 2.5% grade from Damascus up to Whitetop.

I hiked it from Damascus to Ablington and to where to AT leave it for the 
last time. No steep sections anywhere in this area.
