Why hike NORTH up hill to a shelter, when your plan is to hike SOUTH? I would
park at the Old Forge Park and hike South the 2.4 miles to Deer Lick
Shelters. Staying at Tumbling Run Shelter will add about 3.3 miles to the
next days hike.
Antietam Road (Old Forge Road) is a narrow two line road.

Thanks for the feedback. The person I spoke to at Michaux Ranger station
said Deer Lick Run Shelter was right next to road. Next time I'll look at
the map and make sure.
How many cars can we park on Rocky Mountain Rd next to shelter?
Okay folks if no one has any objections we'll be staying at Tumbling Run
Shelter Friday night instead of Deer Lick Run Shelter?
