I am interested in hiking the last 40-50 miles of the AT in Maine.  I will be flying into Boston, then taking a bus to Augusta.  Does anyone know a good starting point for me and whether or not I can find transportation to that point?  Are the rivers passable for one person?  Are there any good things to know about that part of the trail?  How about gear...will I need anything other than the normal boots, tent, stove, rain gear?
