[at-l] Bristlecone at NOC

Well Bristlecone is really kickin it! He arrived at NOC at about 11 this
morning, 3 and a half days ahead of (his) schedule! I told him at this
rate he'll completely miss Autumn in New England, and will be finishing in
early August. He reports wonderful, sunny days and lots of great company
out there but I didn't get a list of names. I'll try to do that next time
I talk to him. Since he is so far ahead of schedule he's decided to rent a
cabin and take a day off tomorrow to just kick around and relax with a
bunch of new friends. I only talked to him briefly but he's bubbling with
enthusiasm, and going to try to get a ride into Bryson City this afternoon
to pick up some steaks and beer... his cabin has a gas grill. Yeah,
thru-hiking is such a tough life :-)

Any messages for him? I'll be talking to him again later. I know if I
were there I'd be going rafting, laying around in the sun and eating
barbecue food and letting my feet air out. Oh yeah, he did mention that
(as expected) people in the local grocery stores have been making faces at
the thruhikers when they go shopping, and one little boy walked by, looked
back and said "Pew!" This caused laughter and high-fives.
