I have a basic dehydrator and love it. It makes trail food pleasurable
and nutritious. FWIW, I dry components rather than complete meals, such
as stews. I add these to other ingredients, frequently purchased right
off the grocery shelf, to make dinners. Mushrooms work great and make
almost any noodle dish seem special. I find that chopped canned tomatoes
dry well and taste more like tomatoes when reconstituted. I also dry a
variety of canned beans, including garbanzos. They reconsitute quickly.
I've also had success with canned clams, olives, asparagus, sweet
potatoes, spinach...
Have fun experimenting!
