[at-l] Starting in Maine

Grettings:

I'm planning on starting my southbound thru-hike on June 1 of next year.  How have
most people started the southbound hike?  Do I get dropped off at Baxter.  Climb the
mountain, officially start, and then climb back down and start the trail?  How does
this work?
