If you must, something liquid and biodegradable and away from my drinking
water supply.
If you believe in LNT, the soap will kill creatures in nature, especially if
we hikers by a hundred every day for months on end go into the same "wash
area".
But to answer the question, I use the Dr Bronner's peppermint pure castile.
I use it as tooth paste, mouth freshner, and soap ( face, neck and arms ).
I just add a very few drops to some warm water left over in the bottom of
my fancy cookware ?.

hostel or town, I suggest, take the a shower there as they will have a
waste treatment facility
or spectic system. Do you really want to rid us of our stench - It keeps
away the
robbers and the bears :)
On the trail, I find swimming in a pond or lake, where permitted, without
soap or
cloths gets all the sweat and grim off and a wet rag does the trick.
