[at-l] knee strap

Hey everybody - 

I just saw a contraption in Runner's World catalog called a Knee Strap.  It
looks like a wide band with velcro that you wrap just underneath your knee.
The copy says that the strap puts pressure on the tendon below the knee,
while elevating it.  This supposedly spreads tension over the kneecap
surface and eliminates inflammation.  Supposedly this strap stops knee pain.

These bands are sized to the circunference just below the knee.

Anybody have any experience with something like this (the strap, not the
pain.   I know bunches of us have hiker's knee  ;-)
