[at-l] Vermont Section Logistics

Well, I just finalized my plans with my work schedule and I'm really,
really excited that Micah and I are going to be able to go back to
Vermont this July and finish up the section that I had to skip in my hike
last year! Those of you that read my journal might recall that I took a
nasty fall on a bridge on a side trail just past Griffith Lake. I had
switched back to boots from running shoes the previous day and it ended
up being a very bad decision on my part. I was trying to get to the
nearest road so I could get to a town and change my footwear when my
"accident" happened. That experience shook me up so much that I was just
a hair's breadth away from quitting the trail for good. Luckily, I
decided to stay in a nearby town for a few days before making any rash
decisions. The time I allowed myself was sufficient for me to rebuild my
resolve and five days later I headed back out there with my sights set on
Katahdin once again. Anyway, I have every intention of going back to
that particular bridge and jumping up and down and doing a little whoopie
dance of celebration upon completing this section of trail!!

Now, the point of this whole post, I figure it'll be easiest for me to
just start back at Manchester Center and then I want to hike the 70 miles
up to VT12 just past Killington. My problem right now is working out the
logistics of the shuttles on either end.

I know that in '97 there was a new hostel in the Killington area of
Vermont called the Trailside Lodge. Unfortunately, the info I've got on
that place says it doesn't open for business until July 15th, and that's
too late for my purposes. I've tried calling their number several times,
but there's no answer and no answering machine either. Does anybody know
if that hostel is still in business and if they are truly closed at this
time?

Any other suggestions or ideas on how I can work out the shuttles on
either end? I'll be driving my pickup to Manchester Center, but then I
need a place to leave it for a week, and I need to get a ride back to it
from the north end of the section I'll be hiking.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! I'm so thrilled
to be able to get this section done and I can't wait to be back on the
trail again, even if it is just for a week!
