This is true of jerky, but have you priced the dried beef and chicken used to
mix into your meals.  I can dry enough chicken breast to feed me for a week
for around 6 bucks, while the cost of just one envelope (good for maybe 2
meals) of freeze dried chicken will cost you around $6.99.  The same is true
of beef.  I buy my jerky most of the time, too, but I always dry the meat I
use for meal ingredients.  Do the math and you can utilize the best of both
worlds and save significant dollars.
