Subject: Winter Nantahala Trailhead/road closings

Notice: 

Hikers planning to start or end hikes in the Trail section in NC just
North of the Georgia line should know that during the Winter months there
will be NO road access to the AT between Bly Gap and Rock Gap during
January, February, and part of March in 1998.  The Forest Service has
closed to autos FS road 71 until March 1st, and FS road 67 until March
15th.  This means that the frequently used trailhead at Deep Gap, as well
as others like Mooney Gap, will NOT be accessible. 

End of announcement -- we thought that this info should be made public to
hikers who might have their plans disrupted (or worse) by these road
closings.
