Here's hoping that y'all have a Happy New Year and that its a damned-site 
better for you than '97 was for me. 

And remember, friends don't let friends hike drunk. I can just see a 
bunch of totaled backpacks on display at all the visitor's centers along 
the trail with signs that say "This is what happens when friends let 
friends drink and hike"
