thanks for the detailed trail report, woodelf. with your step-by-step
description, i could picture the trail as i remembered it, including the
telephone booth, the ent, ten mile river, st johns ledges, the hanglider
launch, giant's thumb, lion's head, sages ravine, race mt, and those skeeters!
i lived in hartford prior to thruhiking, and the CT. section is where i did
all my training hikes, the last of which i stayed at the campsite where you
and chase "found" each other.
in fact, i first set foot upon the AT in CT. so here's a good question for
the list: do you remember your very first time on the AT, where you first
saw a white blaze? mine was where the blue blaze from salisbury meets the
AT going up to lion's head.
