Possibly related: A friend who participated in World War II was stationed
at a B-17 base in Nottinghamshire. On a day off, he went looking for
Sherwood Forest, legendary hangout of Robin Hood, but couldn't find it. He
asked a farmer, who told him, "You're standing in it." There were no trees
in sight; Sherwood Forest was cut down to fuel the Industrial Revolution.
