Just a warning:   in 1994, when I hiked to Harpers Ferry,  denatured
alchohol, was only available in Hot Spring, NC (and only because
Wingfoot bought some)  and Damascus,  VA; to get it else where meant a
long side trip.   It mat have changed since then, I'm not really sure.

One other brief note:  As a geochemist (my "career") I'll tell you now
that alchohol doesn't put out much heat, as compared to white gas.  (At
45 F, it will take close to ten minutes heat heat water, much longer if
you're melting snow)   this may be a concern if you are hiking early
this year.
