[at-l] Re: Freshmen Orientation

Last year I ran across groups from Davidson college.  They stayed at 
shelter sites, but brought a large tarp and told the students in advance, 
"we will not be staying in the shelters because we would fill them up."  
One group I stayed with had gotten some of their sleeping bags wet the 
night before.  Rain was threatening again, so as night approached, I 
pulled one of the leaders aside and said, "I'm the only one in the 
shelter and I would much prefer that you guys keep dry than suffer on my 
behalf.  So if it starts to rain, send as many folks in here as you 
like."  Truth be told, I would've enjoyed the company.
