shoe stuff

I was just looking at what people were saying about shoe goo and barge
cement and was surprised that people carried these - they are pretty
heavy. For those who have: do you carry a whole tube, or empty some
out? Is there an easy way to do that?

My own personal experience: I was leading a group of 14 year olds this
past summer on the AT in NY and Connecticut and trying to find a way to
lighten up my load. I decided that I had never had occasion to use the
shoe goo in my repair kit and it was pretty heavy so I should get rid of
it. At the site that night, I ran into a Ridge Runner who was offering
to take out people's garbage (the next day was his day off and he was
going into town) and he said he would take my shoe goo if I wanted. I
pondered it for a while and then finally decided that I only had a few
days left, might as well keep it - lucky for me. The very next day, one
of the girl's soles separated and I was able to fix it enough to let her
finish off the trip. It worked great.

a goo convert,
jeff
