The rest of the story (I don't think Chase would mind the telling) is that he's
started his 3rd AT section hike with the current large section that he's on
(Front Royal to Springer?), while not yet finished with the rest of his 2nd
section hike.

It has to do with what time of year he gets to go hiking. I think the remaining
section for his 2nd section hike is NH & ME. --Arthur
