        This is a good subject but deserves pages worth of discussion.

          It's important to compute erosion and trailbed quality into those 
improvements. The volunteer structure is stretched thin. It would be wrong to 
deny a permanent cure to seriously eroded sections simply because they were 
done to NPS standard. As Jim often puts it, hey, there's no reason why you 
couldn't get in there and make recommendations in order to keep it wild...
