[at-l] Son of SPRUCK; SPRUCK2

Well, the SPRUCK Redux was this weekend, and just like last time, only
the Big Dogs showed up with tools.

That meant me, Michael and THEE Clyde Dodge, crew BOSS.

And I mean Boss.

I got fired three or four times off my own deck job. Clyde wouldn't
fire Michael until Tuesday when the job was over, because he was the
far better hand with tools than the rest of the crew (me). Chief,
having learned his lesson last time, made a clean escape to some
family function he made up on the spot.

All I can say is, it was alot like a hiker weekend.

We all woke up and stumbled to a central coffee pot, told lies,
planned future hikes and ate brownies for breakfast, worked on stuff,
drank water, exhibited lots of spittin', and cussin' of recalcitrant
materials, fried in the sun, drank more water, solved the world's
problems and created some new ones, drank more water, moved to the
shade, told more lies and planned more future hikes, pondered "the
foxhole effect" of bonding among hikers (as this was clearly above and
beyond the pale of normalcy and good sense, just like a thru-hike),
then quit just about the time it cooled off (how smart is that?), took
Holy, Wonderful Showers in a Blessedly Air Conditioned House, watched
stupid movies (I mean, Fight Club? Come one!), ate some more food and
brownies and fell into bed exhausted.

The food was better this time, we missed 'ol Pork Chop's questions,
exhortations and assistance with the ice cream, and the new deck at
Casa Del Shoe looks FABULOUS!

I mean, this is a high-class deck! Well-crafted and real
sharp-looking. I might have to charge admission if I have a SPRUCK
again. Except, of course, for my REAL friends; I think I'll let them
sit on it for free. I might even bring them a beer.

Maybe Clyde will post a picture some day. Or, maybe he won't. You can
just never tell what Clyde will do next.

Be-Decked Shoe,
blessed with outstanding friends
