[at-l] Something I stumbled across...

I read this the other day on MountainZone I think. The Khumbu Ice Fall is
what climbers of Everest fear the most. Basically, it's like walking on a
large melting ice cube with other large melting ice cubes looming above you.
Even with modern technology, the odds are in Everest's favor. Most likely at
least one climber per year will perish. You weigh the odds, decide how
valuable it is to you, and proceed accordingly.

KATMANDU ? An American climber was killed on Mount Everest after he
slipped and fell into a crevice, Nepalese mountaineering officials said
Tuesday.

Seattle climber Michael O'Brien, 39, fell to his death on Sunday as he
and his brother Chris, 32, were returning to their base camp and were
crossing the Khumbu Icefall, a dreaded section of the route that has
claimed the lives of many climbers.
