I wonder if 50 years from now hikers won't be wistfully posting on how
lucky WE were on having so few restrictions way back in 2004 - no limit
of only 5000 thru hikers per year, for instance, and no internet
dataports at the 1,085 shelters, no FBI checks to get a hiking passport,
and so on.
