[at-l] Introduction (Read at own risk)

OK. I'll bit, also.

I am 64 years old and I can't remember a period before I was in the woods,
camping, fishing, hunting, etc.

I had hiked on the AT before I knew what it was. In 1957, I was recruited by
a neighbor to do some work on something called the AT -- he needed a dumb big
kid on the other end of a cross cut. Must have caught a bug, or something, as
I have been at it every since. In addition to Club maintaining, I still spend
four to six weeks a year on crew. I tend to get in another four to six weeks
a year walking a trail, most often the AT.

I have hiked all the trail from the NC/VA border to the Delaware Water
Gap -- some sections many, many, many times over and some sections along
vastly different routes. For example, I wonder how many others on the list
have hiked the AT through Floyd & Carroll Counties, over the Pinnacles of Dan,
and crossed the New River at Fries Junction?

I have hiked many sections from MA north to ME and south of VA to GA.
However, they don't all link up -- outside the NC/VA border to the Delaware
Water
Gap area.

Over the years, I have migrated from a 60+ lb pack to a three season pack of
under 14 lbs (excluding food & water) -- not ultra-light, but reasonably
light weight.

Like Jim, I have been part of this group from the use-net days.
