Maine also has among the lowest bonded indebtedness of all the states, and one of the highest bond ratings. 

These tax statistics have always struck me as suspect. I have no way of knowing whether they are correct or not, and if true, why, -- nor does Kurt C. All are issued by some group or other who have a political perspective that they want to promote.

But if true, they may simply be the product of a minority party that refuses to allow the state to invest in its future.

I know. I bounced around this country for many years, but finally decided to settle six miles from where I was born. Why? Taxes are not burdensome. And most of us are wise enough to recognize right wing ideologues when we see them. That may be why we have the two most liberal Senators in the national majority party.
