My parents didn't hike or camp until my brother joined the Boy Scouts. He 
talked them into camping for vacation. Fortunately it was in a place (Cook's 
Forest, PA) that had loads of trails, and we kids were old enough to go out on our 
own. So we hiked all day long. And that was it. We were hooked.
