It isn't ALL luck; partly due to putting up with the "hardship" of being on
3rd shift, and that's the way it's set up, since 1st and 2nd shifts use up
8? hours each out of a 24 day.
(Consequently, there are only 7 hours remaining, and I get a half hour
"lunch")

That, plus having been there for almost 20 years, except for a 15? month
layoff in the '96-'97 time period.
(It'll BE 20 years on October the 8th)

But the weeks off are about the only chance I get to hike these days,
besides the weekends.
(Just to make it on topic...)

Can't speak for anyone else, but personally I work 6? hour days, and take 4
full weeks off per year.
(Next year, that goes up to 5 full weeks...)

The thing that puzzles me is that with Walmart selling stuff so cheap and
with much of the world's population woring for a dollar or two a day making
stuff for us, how come Americans work longer hours and have shorter
vacations than than almost all other industrial nations.
