[at-l] Huge Deal Reached On Adirondack Wild Lands (OT)




         The largest land protection deal in NY state history was recently 
had. Over a 1/4 million acres of private lands have been opened to public use in 
the state's Adirondack Park. The acreage had previously been in limbo due to 
land-use agreements. The major holder, International Paper, agreed to open the 
land to the public with a convenant for slow-paced sustainable harvesting. No 
other development will be allowed on these lands.
