Hi Onestep. I didn't cache any food on the AT last year, but hiked with a
guy who did. He's on Trailjournals and briefly describes what he did in
this entry: http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=51113 There's also
an email address listed at the bottom of his "About" entry so you might be
able to ask him questions about it.
I was around him toward the end of the hike, and he seemed happy with the
food caches. If there are hikers heading into town, you might find a sucker
(like me) to carry your trash in.
