[at-l] Bottles for stove alcohol

You should not need a pot stand if you made your stove the proper design. (contact TinCan Stoveman or there's lots of info on the net). Your pot should sit directly on your stove. Use a few small stones to additionally stabilize and cut wind if necessary. A double wrap of heavy duty foil or old MSR stove screen cut down or folded to size also works fine for windscreen. Unless I am somewhere where I cannot find it I burn DENATURED ALCOHOL. I've found that HEET and other similar fuels burn "sooty" and that crap could possibly settle into your meal. "Hmmm, that in itself may answer some other question about the long distance light-hikers". Unless made to carry alcohol products the tops on MSR and on similar bottles expand and seize-up. To carry fuel,(suggest outside your pack in a zip lock) I use a SMALL NECK,(pours easier, less spillage/waste)CLEAR,(so I can see how much I have) 12-20oz(depends on how much I cook and the distance between resupply)BOTTLE, preferably with a red cap(FUEL) Have used these for years with no problems. I also peel off the label and put a few wounds of duct tape,(may come in handy) around the bottle and mark the bottle and the top of the cap. Baltimore Jack and I are currently experimenting with Bacardi's 151. Test results are pending and should be available at this weekends "WINTER WARMER" being held at the luxurious five star "DOYLE HOTEL" in beautiful downtown DUNCANNON PA. The new owners have fixed the place up for you old timers that haven't been there in a while. Maybe we'll see some of you there???? Any "NORTHBOUNDERS" passing through PA for your pushoff are urged to stop by.
"IT WILL BE WORTH YOUR TIME"! To all NOBO's "GOOD LUCK". Hope to meet you on "The TRAIL". BAG"o"TRICKS

Spring water bottles are amazingly strong. I had well over a 1000 miles on
one and changed it just because, although it may have lasted much longer. I'm
seeing little 12 oz. gatorade bottles that would be perfect to hold a bottle
of Heet.
