[at-l] LL Bean-
You may be right. But when I was actually in Maine for about three weeks I found out the actual reason for Bean.
You don't need that stuff for thru hiking. You need it to survive in Maine. Every bit of it at different times.
I think that was the original intent of Leon Leonwood. And don't get me started about that store in Freeport. I could
move in there and be perfectly happy for the rest of my life.

I have Bean clothing that I have had for YEARS. So does my Dad. And a
splattering of equipment.
It's good stuff.

So do I, I wear it all the time. It's great stuff (and they have a great return policy).
But it isn't exactly thruhiker gear.
