[at-l] on the most important gear.... digital camera



Just a comment about comparing pictures via the web. A 2 megapixel photo
doesn't appear any different that a 6 megapixel photo when displayed as a
3x4 picture on the web. Most any digital camera takes photos good enough to
display on the web. The real test is can you print a good copy. Or can you
blow it up, frame it, and display it on your wall.

I used a 3 megapixel Olympus on the AT this year. The pictures are great and
big enough to print at about 8x10. What I really like is that the camera
does all the thinking and settings for the picture. I just point and click.

Of course any shot in the forest looks good. But remember it is still only a
small portion of what you get to see when you get into the woods. That keeps
me hiking!
