[at-l] Too much food!

>> In 98, there was
>>one hiker that had too much food sent from home in
>>each maildrop.
>>Other hikers knew this and were around to scarf down
>> the leftovers.

Tim (Camel on the AT) was there to see the "Magic of
Magaroni" mail drops as one hiking couple put it!

I belive the hiker he was talking about was me. :-)

Dad REALLY got into my AT hike. He wanted to contact
the local paper, I said "At least wait until I am
done". He called them three days after I left Rhody.

In any case, Dad, truly living up to the Magnanti rep
when it comes to food, thought "Hey..if some food is
good..MORE MUST BE BETTER!" Where one summer sausage
may have been good..two was even better! One package
of granola bars? Try two instead. You get the idea. I
told Dad that he was sending too much. He (and Mom)
both said "You have to eat out there!"

It is true. I *ALWAYS* had food to give away (and
gladly..not only to lighten my load but I seemed to
inherited the Magnanti trait of wanting to feed
people. :D). I think one hiker, on a much stricter
budget than mine, supplied a good chunk of his food
out of my excess. Moral of the story? Try to find a
guy who has an overly concerned Italo-American Dad.
Stick around when he gets mail drops and you will more
than likely get a bonanza of extra food.
