[at-l] ON TOPIC: Insulin Dependent Diabetics on the AT

Okay, I know someone has commented on this before, but I cannot remember
who. And I cannot remember what was exactly said. But at the homeless
dinner I work at, I had a young person* ask me about hiking the AT: They are
insulin dependent. I told them what I could, but I was not sure about all
the ends and outs for someone who is insulin dependent. Right now I think
they are looking at long weekends, fall break, spring break, etc. And this
summer they might spend several weeks with their parents and sibs on
vacation -- teachers, sighhh..., they get three months off with pay. And,
maybe someday, they would like to hike the whole AT. But, they do depend on
insulin. So, for their benefit and the benefit of any lurkers, what does an
insulin dependent diabetic do?

PS	Yes I could look it up, but I want it from the "horse's mouth" so to
speak.

*	Come to think of it, most everyone is younger than me. Or at least
I feel that way. ;-)
