[at-l] Camping colors (suggested by the Jazzman thread)

>"... I am considering some bright orange, yellow... tape to hang from my pack."

Blaze orange is the color that hunters almost everywhere have learned means
"human nearby." It's the color they are looking to avoid when aiming at
wildlife. I think it is a mistake -- possibly a fatal mistake -- for hikers to
substitute a different color during big game hunting seasons.

Hunters are focused on venison. They have been trained for decades to avoid
shooting in the direction of blaze orange -- even at the cost of coveted
venison. Other colors may be technically more visible. But nothing says "don't
shoot me" as loudly or as distinctly as blaze orange in most, if not all, of the
Appalachian Trail states.
