[at-l] Emergency Books

Someone mentioned in a message that they had taken a course in Wilderness
medicine. Well some of us can't take such a course because of time,
distance, or money. So what books would you suggest that might help a
person prepare for emergencies. Especially medical. And especially ones
that would be good for Lone Hikers.

I am not talking about how-to-do surgery books. ;-) But books that could
help you if you sprained -- perhaps broke -- your ankle. Or if you had a
serious cold. Or if you got something serious in your eye. Etc.

And how about books that might tell you how to judge symptoms you are
having? Is it hay fever or the flu? Remember flu can be potentially life
threatening; especially if you are out all alone on a trail. Is it that
pot-luck chili, or are you having "mild" heart attacks? Is it giardia or
did you eat too many pizzas last night?
