Thanks for all the current and future replies.

The current start date for this person (maybe 2 by the time the hike starts
[think wedding bells]) is 2004 thru' 2008 hiking season.  The people
expected to join them range from piggy-back kids to 70 somethings -- one of
the grandparents has just given up gardening with a small tractor.  Decided
to use a mule.  Not totally unfit.  Just normal fitness with some pluses.
Except for "Junior" who is a coach potato for couch potatoes. ;-)
