[at-l] Mt. Reagan in NH

Why is being elected president not enough in its own merit.
And no, I am not a Clinton fan, but he was president, and he
was re-elected by a healthy majoprity. Someone thinks higly of him.

I would suggest Mt. Bill for the ridiculousness of it.

Seriously, I would suggest that no mountain (already named or not) be
named for a President until 100 years (from 1st) Death; 2nd) End of
their presidential term; 3rd) Birth. The only exception might be for a
President that was assassinated. If we name for a President who is
still alive, or has only "recently" died, then we are too "near" that
President to judge if they are worthy of such an honor.

No. But I would suggest President Johnson, who signed the original bill
protecting the trail, or President Carter, who first provided the money.
The simple fact, obvious to all except the bigoted, is that some
presidents, recognizing that few, if anyone, can own the land needed for
long distant trails, support public acquisition of land needed for long
distant trails.

I'm truly fascinated that almost 20 years after 1984, George Orwell's
concept of "doublethink" remains alive and well. Folks can still love
trails and love the outdoors, but oppose all government efforts to
achieve access to trails and the outdoors. I know "R" this is "off
topic." Even though there is no topic more critical to the future of
trails.
