In past years I have noted that eventually the entries start to
get further apart and shorter in length. This usually happens
after the hikers pass through PA. I think that it may have
something to do with making it to Harper’s Ferry and then the
unofficial and semi-official half way points. I think the
trudge (or may drudge) factor sets in. One stops enjoying the
trail and all they can look forward to is finishing the trail.
Haven’t done any deep thinking about it. Just wondering.

### For my part, I stopped "journaling" by Fontana, but kept a
pretty faithful log (of calender pages) that noted night spot,
mileage, weather, how I felt, etc. Up north, I was so involved
in *walking* the trail that the priority of *writing* about it
fell to smaller and smaller importance. At one point in Maine, I
was a week behind and *made* myself stop long enough to recreate
all the needed information. (I can still see the scene in my
mind's eye, plain as day.) But I was INTO the walking, not "out
of" energy for the hike. That help?
