If you are hiking in the area and are planning on staying at devils race
course,  I think it would be alright if it was during the week.   But on the
weekends I would steer clear of it.  There  are two good tent sites that I
saw.  One was just left of the trail just prior to the climb down the hill...
You will see a stone fire ring...  The other which we stayed at was just a
little bit ( 40 yards ) up the trail from the shelter.  Although not in the
area we could still hear the party, but not as bad as the guys in the
shelter.   Water is abundant but it is down the hill... not too bad without a
pack,  I have had worse climbs for water... Plus it will give you an excuse
to see the devils race course behind the shelter.
