[at-l] ATC anniversary

Before the month ends I just want to remind that this is the 78th anniversary of
the founding of the Appalachian Trail Conference. (March 3 was the anniversary
date)

The ATC reports that it was founded in Washington, D.C. at a meeting of club
leaders, "the first director of the National Park Service (Stephen Mather), and
two national-forest supervisors, brought together by Benton MacKaye and the
Regional Planning Association." ATC urges that hikers, "Learn more about this
initial meeting and the early story of the Trail in Trail History."
