Thanks Datto! a good read, and makes me even more anxious to get out
there. I had already considered doing the 13 miles from Betty Creek Gap
to just past Winding Stair Gap, rather than stopping at Rock Gap
Shelter. And that would give me even more time to play around on Siler.
(will it be rainstorm, snowstorm, or sunbath??) I'll be on that
stretch almost the same time that you were - well, except for that
little bit called a few years. I'll be out April 23-29.

I know it will all work out - I'm not really planning on aiming for
shelters, but will put my hammock up wherever it needs to be. And am
only planning about 70 miles for 7 days, so it won't be a push ever.
And a lot will depend upon my hiking partner as well.

I'm wandering around the house right now in the wonderful camp shoes
that Greasepot sent me. I need a scale to weigh them - but they are
incredibly light. All plastic clogs, with holes in them. I've got
springer fever bad right now. i'm also beginning to dream about the
Long Trail in '04. I'll be able to take a month off then. yippee.
