Night Hiking!
Ah..how I love it so.
Do a search for "NIGHT HIKE" in the archives you just
may find a trip report or two from me. :-)
About half of my night hikes are are bushwhacks. No
trail to follow...we just have an interesting point to
get to.
Memorable night hikes include a full moon Halloween
hike, hiking in Utah (this one was not by choice! :D)
by the faint moon light seeing the expanse of red
rocks and my last night hike on a local mountain. An
almost full moon with no clouds in the sky. Simply
beautiful!
Why do I enjoy night hikes? For me it is a chance to
get out of the house during the week and get some
needed outdoor time. Even a busy trail is quiet at
nocturnal periods. My night hikes typically aren't
long..but they are always fun.
Typically, I get one night hike in a month. The next
night "hike" is actually a run. Organizing a "Full
Moon Fun Run" in a couple of weeks along a popular
path the runs past the outskirts of town and along the
creek. For March, I think an almost full moon snow
shoe at the Spring Equinox might be on the agenda.
Yeah... I like these night hikes. :-)
