Hi All,

This is the weekend that I played shelter care taker.  Jiked up to
Leory SMith Shelter (South of WInd af PA).  The trail up was a little
snowy, but by the shelter it was icy.  Friday was welll above
freezing, Friday night it droip to will below freezing and we had
some pretty good flurries in the lower elevations.

The water source was running nicely, there are actually three
acces points to the stream.  Swept out the shelter, check out the
latrine (and left toilet paper)  and read the shelter journal.  Not too
many people visited the shelter between Thanksgiving and
Yesterday.  All  section hikers one group actually used snowshoes
to get into the shelter.

Warm sun and cold gtemperatures means that those areas that
get direct sunlight will slowly melt, but the rest of the trail will be
icy.
